GILI AIR
ISLAND - Head to one of the set of three Islands called
the 'Gili's' where the water are crystal clear and the white sandy beaches
(a tropical paradise) and the life underwater is abundant. One the way you

Then the Sidemen village where palm sugar is made and also a magical view
of the panoramic valleys to the North and South. Then it is to Gili Air by

EAST
LOMBOK - Set out driving to the east via the town of
Selong to visit Labuhan Haji, the old Harbour. During the Dutch occupation
in Indonesia the KMP fleet used this harbour to rest their ships. From
here we can see the western part of Sumbawa Island. On to Loyok, basket
weaving village, and Tetebatu, a hill resort where you will have time to
enjoy the magical gardens.

SOUTH
LOMBOK - Pass the town of Cakranegara which is a mainly
Hindu occupied village (originally from Bali) and visit the markets of
Sweta, then to Getap Village to see skilled blacksmiths making horseshoes,
knives and hammers with primitive tools. Proceed to Sukarara, weaving
village specializing in colorful saroong and shawls. Next stop is Penujak,
where the famous Lombok pottery is made. Kuta, a beautiful white sandy
beach where legend says there was a king named Beberu who had a beautiful
dauhter Putri Mandalika Nyale. The princess was so beautiful that all the
princes on the island fell in love with her. Unable to choose between them
she invited all of them to come to the beach. After they all gathered
around, she plunged into the roaring sea and her hair transformed into a
sea worm called Nyale. Even today this area is called Nyale Beach. On the
way back call in to see the native Sasak Village, mingle with the people
and see their traditional houses.
